The hospital had a comprehensive AMC on critical medical equipment. The AMC vendor was overcharging on spare-part replacements anyway, and shifting blame to the hospital: "your power quality is poor — that's why your equipment keeps needing spares." SEnergy IoT had been continuously monitoring the UPS output and panel power quality all along. The historised data settled the argument.
A multispeciality hospital in Bengaluru had a comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) on a line of critical medical equipment with the original equipment manufacturer. "Comprehensive" meant that spare-part replacements were included — the hospital would not be billed for individual spare parts across the term of the contract.
In practice, the AMC vendor kept raising spare-replacement invoices anyway. The vendor's claim: "Your facility's power quality is poor. The spares are being damaged by the dirty supply you're delivering to the equipment. That's a hospital-side problem, not an AMC-covered manufacturing defect."
It is the oldest excuse in critical-equipment maintenance. And without hard data on the hospital's actual power quality, it was going to keep working.
Independently of the AMC dispute, SEnergy IoT had been in place at the hospital — initially commissioned for a different scope (oxygen-generation monitoring; see that case study). The platform's reach included:
The hospital didn't deploy SEnergy IoT for the AMC dispute. The dispute arose later. The platform was already there, already monitoring, already keeping records.
The UPS was delivering clean, in-spec voltage and frequency continuously. Zero slippage on any monitored window. The historian had the time-stamped record going back months.
Current, voltage, THD, phase imbalance all inside acceptable thresholds across the periods the AMC vendor was invoicing against.
The event log showed no voltage dips or sags or swells coincident with the dates the AMC vendor was claiming "damage from dirty supply."
Every measurement in the SEnergy historian is time-stamped at source, with the gateway's clock synchronised and the data signed on upload. The record is auditable.
The hospital presented the SEnergy IoT power-quality historian to the AMC vendor. The vendor's "poor power quality" excuse evaporated. Faced with auditable evidence that the hospital was delivering clean power through the hospital's UPS to the covered equipment, the AMC vendor had no technical ground on which to decline the comprehensive AMC coverage.
The AMC vendor replaced the spares under the comprehensive AMC at zero additional cost to the hospital.
SEnergy IoT was not the AMC vendor. SEnergy IoT does not sell critical medical equipment. But the platform's historised data became the auditable evidence the hospital used to disarm a third-party vendor's excuse and recover money it was owed under an existing contract.
This pattern repeats wherever a customer has:
SEnergy IoT historises the parameter. The excuse becomes untenable. The customer saves hard money without SEnergy ever having to promise a savings number.
