A garment manufacturer was reading one monthly water bill from one utility meter. The bill went up gradually, year on year, but there was no way to tell whether it was production growth or something leaking. SEnergy IoT instrumented the main inlet and each major process zone with smart water meters. Within weeks, the dashboards surfaced water losses the plant had been paying for without knowing it.
Garment manufacturing is a thirsty process. Dyeing, washing, finishing, boiler feed, cooling — every stage consumes water. In most plants, the only visible measurement is the utility inlet meter, read monthly by the utility and billed. Internal consumption is a black box.
At this plant — a mid-sized garment manufacturer in India — the monthly utility bill had been drifting upward year on year. Production had also grown. Was the extra consumption production-driven, or something else? Nobody could say.
Supplied and installed smart water meters at the main utility inlet and at each process zone (dyeing, washing, finishing, boiler feed, utility services). All networked to the SEnergy Cloud via Modbus.
Live zone-level consumption dashboards replaced the once-a-month utility bill. The plant could see, hour by hour, where water was being used.
Threshold alerts for unusually high consumption on any zone fire tickets into the plant's O&M workflow. A broken valve or run-away flow surfaces within hours.
Water-per-unit-of-production (litres per kg of fabric, litres per garment) baselined and tracked over time. Deviations against baseline become the operator's early-warning signal.
SEnergy IoT did not promise this plant a percentage of water savings. We promised visibility. The savings follow — once a plant can see where its water is going, operators do the fixing. Our platform's job was to end the "nobody knows" state. Everything after that is normal operations work, now armed with data.
